Summer Tips To Remove Body Odor
Summers naturally bring in body odor because of sweat accumulated in the body due to heat. Bathing routine or poor hygiene can lead to body odor secreted by the apocrine glands when they interact with bacteria. The sebaceous glands, present in the scalp, face, and chest, produce oil, which has a light odor. If there is a poor hygiene followed then bacteria can build up on the skin and create more than just bad body odor. In order to prevent excessive sweating and body odor, we managed to bring you some tips to smell good this summer.
1. Match your shower gel, moisturizer and perfume
This tip is for all the girls out there. Wanna hold on to a fragrance that lasts longer on your body? This is the trick. Invest in same fragrance of shower gel, moisturizer and perfume. This way it builds up the fragrance and the smell lasts longer which prevents any odor.
2. Keep Yourself Clean
Especially in summer, don’t skip your shower. By showering, you’ll wash away all the sweat as well as end up reducing the number of bacteria on your skin. In general, sweat is odorless but when it mixes up with bacteria on your body, it creates bad odor.
3. Use Antibacterial Soap
Antibacterial bath soap can help prevent bacteria on the skin such as lifebuoy, Dettol and cinthol.
4. Towel dry thoroughly
Post shower, ensure that you dry yourself completely. Concentrate on those areas where you sweat a lot and towel dry them completely. This step is important because dry skin attracts less bacteria and prevents breeding which in turn causes less body odor.
5. Shave your Underarms
Underarms are one target area which creates a lot of bad odor. Hair under your arms can create a pool for bacteria. Hair being porous it easily absorbs odor and can even slow the evaporation of sweat. Shaving prevents sweat and also makes your underarms look neat and clean
6. Apply Vinegar
Vinegar, apple cider or white, helps in lowering the pH level of the skin creating an antibacterial environment as bacteria cannot thrive in acidity. Use the vinegar under the arms when you get out of the shower. As sometimes vinegar may not suit few skin types, it is always best to do a patch test on the skin before applying it completely.
7. Lemon Juice
Lemon juice works amazingly well in treating body odor. The acidic property of lemon juice helps in decreasing the skin’s pH level which helps in eliminating the bacteria.
8. Witch Hazel
Witch hazel also lowers the skin’s pH level and makes it impossible for odor-causing bacteria to survive. In addition to that, it has astringent properties which contracts the skin pores and help reduce the production of sweat.
