Top 3 Recharge Apps for Coupons and Promo Codes
Hello and welcome to this month’s post of the ‘Top 3’ series.
The last time out, we talked about the Top 3 Fashion e-Stores for Coupons and Promo Codes. Before that, we wrote posts about the Top 3 Hotel Booking Sites and the Top 3 Travel Sites along with similar articles for Restaurants and Online Retailers, the one that started it all.
You can read all of those if you want. However, in this article, we’re going to be talking about the top 3 recharge apps for coupons and promo codes.
The first app on our list is FreeCharge, which is an Indian e-commerce site where people can perform recharges for their devices online. You can recharge prepaid, postpaid, and data cards along with landline, electricity, and DTH as well. The meaning of the app is given in the name itself as it allows you to ‘recharge for free’.
August of 2010 was when Kunal Shah and Sandeep Tandon founded the company. In 2011, Plugged.in said that they were one of the most promising tech startups.
In April of 2015, Snapdeal acquired FreeCharge. They invested $20 million into FreeCharge and appointed Jason Kothari as the CEO. On July 27th of this year (2017), FreeCharge were involved in another major deal that saw Axis Bank buy them for 60 million dollars (nearly 385 crore rupees).
Sangram Singh is the current CEO of this successful company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. If you are one of their millions of users, you can get FreeCharge promo codes here at DPC.
Second on the list is MobiKwik, an Indian smartphone-based digital wallet and recharge app. MobiKwik customers can add funds to the online wallet which they can use for electronic payments. The MobiKwik HQ is situated in Gurgaon.
The founders are Bipin Preet Singh and Upasana Taku, a husband and wife duo who came up with the idea in 2009. It started off as a closed payment system, gradually moving on to mobile apps and partnering with online merchants.
In 2013, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) authorized the MobiKwik wallet. The RBI license allows the use MobiKwik marketplaces for customers to make transactions with third-party vendors. Their digital contributions and innovation won them the ‘m-Business & Commerce Award’ at the mBillionth Award South Asia in 2014.
MobiKwik’s rise to the top was arduous but worth it as they now have over 50 million users and are looking to triple that amount through investments. Don’t miss out! Make use of MobiKwik promo codes from DPC.
Finally, we have Paytm, which is one of the most popular payments and recharge apps in India. You can also pay bills for utilities such as gas, internet, and electricity through the Paytm Wallet. Paytm stands for ‘payment through mobile’ and the headquarters are in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
Paytm is not a separate company, but a brand launched under One97 Communications Limited by Vijay Shekhar Sharma in 2010. At the time, it was only meant for prepaid mobile recharges but expanded to a payment platform in 2013.
During its tenure, giants such as Alibaba, Ratan Tata, SoftBank, Sequoia Capital, and Ant Financial expressed confidence in Paytm through their investments. 2015 was when the RBI gave them the license to start ‘Paytm Payments Bank Limited’, which was available to everyone in August 2017.
Jump back a few months to February 2017, when they launched Paytm Mall for online shopping. Paytm is currently doing very well, and is the number one mobile payment platform in India. Utilise all the Paytm Mall coupons available at your disposal on the DPC site.
Those were the top three companies with recharge coupons. Actually, Demonetisation and GST have helped all of these apps (Freecharge, MobiKwik, and Paytm) flourish with many people shifting to online payment methods. These apps are helping the Indian economy transition from the physical to the digital realm.
